Hi friends! We’re so excited to announce that we’ll be releasing an EP on July 3rd! Carrido is a collection of 4 songs recorded in 4 days at our great friend Richard Swift’s studio in September of 2018 just after he passed away.
Richard’s wife Shealynn invited us to come record so that music would continue to be made (as it should!) in his studio National Freedom. Rich’s studio is a very familiar creative space for us and we love to be there. We worked on several PBC releases as well as some records for other artists there over the years. The space is filled with many wonderful memories for us.
The first song on the EP ‘Something Silver’, a song about holding hope through changing seasons, is streaming everywhere today. There’s more to tell about this EP but for now we really hope you enjoy this song and thank you as always for staying with us on our musical journey.
Speaking of musical journeys, we have both been so privileged in many ways. Perhaps centrally in our case, given the way our lives have ended up, is that through music we have been able to learn, experience, travel and achieve so much on multiple levels. Art has so much power, whether it speaks of revolution, peace, love, sexuality, etc., it plays such a huge role in the evolution of our society. We’re certain it has the power to save lives. As such, 50% of all proceeds from @bandcamp through July 10th from this EP will be donated to @youthpowerpdx, a youth-run collective based in our own Portland that brings focus and opportunities to the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities through art and music.
